Adventures in Northern CA and Oregon

Emily Marks July 19, 2018

My love for travel comes naturally from a childhood of adventures with my parents. So this month, my mom is doing a guest blog for me as I am a *little* busy getting ready to move back to Ohio and preparing for my first NYNOW trade show all within the next few weeks. My parents live in Florida which has perfect weather eight months out of the year but it is a little wet from June through September so they spend most of those months traveling. They just did two weeks in Northern California and Oregon. Do you realize how much land there is north of San Fran in California? To me it always feels like CA ends with San Fran but that is not even close to the truth. Summer temps in this area are mid-60's to 70's every day and low humidity which my parents love. So here is a recap of their adventure, enjoy!

A weekend in Atlanta

Emily Marks May 24, 2018

I would be remiss in my southeast weekend series if I didn't include our temporary hometown, Atlanta. It has been so much fun getting to know this city. Honestly, I probably would have never thought to do a weekend trip to Atlanta before living here but there is a ton to do and this city loves its small business scene (which I clearly love as well!). We worked hard to truly get to know this town in our short time here, so, I am apologizing now, this post may be a little long. I should also note that we primarily spend most of our time south of Buckhead (not quite our scene) and to the east of downtown (although there are a few westside spots included). And as always, our little guy was in tow at just about every place I listed below.

A weekend in New Orleans

Emily Marks May 2, 2018

Next up on my travel blog series, a weekend in New Orleans. This was my first time there, and I absolutely loved it. There is charm, good food and a genuine sense of pride for the city. Yes, there is a lot of drinking that goes on in New Orleans but honestly we stayed away from most of it and had a great time, even with a 15 month old!

A weekend in Savannah

Emily Marks March 27, 2018

Spending a year in the Southeast has been an eye opening experience for me. I have to say, at least from a Midwesterner's perspective, the Southeast is highly underrated. It's not always easy to get to from the Midwest which might be part of the problem, but it has been a lot of fun exploring the Southeast the past eight months, even with a one year old in tow. People are always asking us for travel suggestions so over the next few months, I will be highlighting some of our favorite Southeast weekend trips - hope you enjoy!

Addressing Your Wedding Invitations

Emily Marks February 14, 2018

The second most popular question I get from couples after Wedding Invitation Wording is how to address the envelopes. While some couples still opt for an inner and outer envelope, many choose to just go with one envelope and struggle with how to word guest names. I often have couples tell me that they want guest names to be in a similar style to their day. In other words, if your day isn't incredibly formal, you might not want your invitations addressed to Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. Maybe instead you would like your invitation addressed to Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith or simply John and Jane Smith.

Wedding Invitation Wording

Emily Marks January 17, 2018

When working with couples on their wedding invitations, one of the first questions that almost always comes up is how to word the invitations. Every wedding is different and there are so many unique situations out there that it can be rather complicated to determine exactly how to word your invitations. Plus, let's be honest, it is probably the first time that many people have to think through what a formal invitation even looks like and might be the only one you ever send!
